ideas for GFSmith poster. Focusing on framing.

I came up with an idea of not cutting the letterings fully, but on half, so it gave me the chance to slant it on an angle. I did this by making scores on the back of the paper to help me bend the lettering, which gave it the right shape.

I wanted to see what it would look like if i was to place the same triangular 2d and 3d elements at the side to give it a different look. I came up with the idea of placing (altogether "100" triangles, seen as its 100 years of GFSmith paper.
I showed both 2d and 3d element within the triangles, starting from 2d then 3d and then to the lettering.

Looked closely at paper artist Peter Calleson, whose work is focused on detail to paper. I have been inspired by his work, and the way he uses negative spaces as well as the positive. The negative is as important as the positive.

The bright lettering work is also a great inspiration to me. It shows how you can work in different ways to complete a lettering or a work in different styles.

Focusing on the shadow of the design. I was trying to get the lettering to show more clearly, which to me, has shown quite well.

Looking closely at framing within the design. The cut out pieces have been specifically placed so that when it comes to photographing the piece it will have some effect.
Bottom: I wanted to see what i would look like if i was to put miniature pieces near the piece to only highlight the "100". Again, used the technique of scores to hold up the pieces.

Experimenting with scores to make the paper stand up. Cut out the letters on each pieces of paper. I came up with the idea of making up my own letterings, for example for the "A" i have replaced it with a triangle. For "E" i have placed 3 dash's, as for the "H" and "N" i did the same for both. I am still unsure whether to use my own style of lettering or to just go with simple lettering.

lettering/n64 idea

Ideas for lettering:
I wanted to experiment with lettering and so i penciled a letter, with the same letter next to it and did another copy. Again used the technique of scores through one of the pieces and then slotted one group with another. This has a great 3d effect which has been thought through the ideas of the n64 logo.

ideas for GFSmith poster

These are images which have inspired me to come up with ideas for the poster. I have looked closely at triangular shapes, with 2d and 3d elements, such as pyramids. The nintendo 64 logo, also gave me an idea on how to play with lettering but still have a 3d side to it.
